Herbs are wrapped around the year and the whole plant is covered with white hairs. Leaves alternate, broadly heart-shaped, entire; petioles nearly as long as pedicels.

Inflorescences with 1 or 3 flowers; sepals 5-parted, lobes ovate-lanceolate, ca. 1 cm, apex caudate; corolla white, bluish-purple or purple-red, funnel-shaped, ca. 5-8 cm; stamens 5; ovary 3 rooms. Capsule spherical. Seeds 5 to 6, oval, black or yellowish white. Flowering from June to September, fruiting period from July to October. Seeds resemble orange petals, 4 to 8mm long and 3 to 5mm wide. Surface gray black (black ugly) or yellowish white (white ugly). There is a shallow longitudinal groove on the back, and there is a 1-point umbilicus at the proximal end of the ventral line. Hard, immersed in water for cracking burst, there are two light yellow cotyledons, closely overlapping and wrinkled. Spicy, bitter, and numb.
