Plant vigor analyzer measurement mechanism

Plant vigor is a fairly professional term that is generally judged by subjective judgments of trained and experienced agricultural workers. The advantage of this evaluation method is that it is very simple and can provide timely help for crop growth very quickly. The downside is that a very experienced and skilled agricultural expert is needed for the evaluation, and this method is also quite subjective and requires a holistic understanding of the entire crop before it can be evaluated.

The principle of plant vigor analyzer measurement is to detect the oxygen change of a small sample of chlorophyll-containing plants and to control the main metabolism of plants under specified conditions such as dark environment (respiratory action) and light environment (photosynthesis and respiration). Detect and derive the vitality of the plant.
The most important feature of PlantVita is that small samples (from 15mm2 ~ 50mm2) can be used for measurement. The measured room temperature is stable (0.2 °C), and the light source is supplied by the red light (635~650 nm) of the LED. Control the switch as required. The oxygen concentration around the measurement object is detected using an oxygen electrode. The user can control and record multiple modes of the measurement process.

With PlantVital we can get the following data:

1. The parameter "R" (representing respiration) is reflected on the curve as the oxygen concentration gradually declines over time, because the sample consumes oxygen in the dark due to respiration. The parameter "R" is the first information obtained about the vigor of the plant to be tested;
2. The LED light source will be turned on when the operator sets the time. At this time, strong red light is irradiated onto the sample to be tested. Normal plants need to go through a fairly long period of adaptation from darkness at night to full sunlight. At this point, the cells of the sample to be tested begin to be rearranged from simple respiration to photosynthesis, and oxygen production gradually compensates for oxygen consumption. These two processes make the curve reach a minimum. The time delay from turning on the lamp to reaching the lowest point of the curve is the information "D" of the second plant activity we measured;
3. The concentration of oxygen gradually rises after reaching the lowest point because the enzymatic decomposition of water produces oxygen. At this point, the PlantVital software will display the third information parameter "S" for the plant vigor to be tested, representing the "slope".
4. Then, the curve will reach the maximum value "M" because the oxygen generation and oxygen consumption near the oxygen sensor will reach equilibrium. In this way, we can obtain four independent parameters to identify the “vigor” of chlorophyll-containing species. Numerous experimental studies have shown that "metabolism efficiency" Em = -S / R is important in the evaluation of the survey objectives. PlantVital is not just a simple measurement of plant photosynthetic oxygen electrodes, but a measurement system for detecting the activity of chlorophyll species.
This system monitors plant vigor and environmental stress conditions by measuring the net oxygen production of plants in photosynthesis.

Measurement system operation:
A small amount of plant material (one leaf, one pine needle, seaweed, seaweed, etc.) is about 10~50mm2, which is enough to collect effective results. Place a special drop of the solution on the membrane of the oxygen electrode and place the sample of the plant to be tested on it. Be careful not to leave air bubbles. Use a transparent glass container to screw the sample to the oxygen electrode and place it in the measuring channel of the device. After selecting the appropriate program, press the "Start" button to analyze. To ensure accuracy, the analysis time of a sample must be between 15 and 30 minutes.
