The grape hawk moth, also known as the grape car moth, is a large leaf-feeding pest. (1) Occurrence and damage. Two generations occurred throughout the year and wintering in the shallow soil layer of the grape rhizosphere. Feathering adults from May to June of the following year. Adults are lurking during the day and are active at night, spawning on the back or shoots of the grapes. The larvae are hatched about 7 days after the egg is hatched and eaten on the leaves. Often the leaves on a new shoot are eaten and then transferred to nearby shoots. In the middle and late July, the old larvae matured, and the pupa period was more than 10 days. In the first half of August, the second generation of adults emerged, and the most serious damage was from August to September. (2) Control measures. Combining with cultivating grasshoppers to eradicate insects, insecticides are used twice in larval stage. When a small amount occurs, the position of the visible insect feces is captured on the new shoot.
