Recently, it is reported that Siemens Healthineers is acquiring Conworx Technology at an undisclosed price to strengthen its point-of-care information business capabilities. Once the acquisition is successful, Conworx will become a new unit for Siemens and will provide open connectivity to more than 100 instant devices from major manufacturers.
According to the statement, the acquisition will combine Siemens' RAPIDComm data management system with the solution of the Berlin-based data management company. This combination will be offered by the new Siemens Healthineers Point of Care Informatics. Conworx's offerings include UniPOC (UniPOC is a web-based, instant data management system that connects and manages POC devices on a single platform). The company also sells POCcelerator, a POC inspection management tool that manages devices, users, QC materials and controls in one system.
Peter Koerte, president of Siemens' instant diagnostics division, said in a statement: "As hospitals expand, there is a huge demand for seamless integration of distributed devices across multiple locations and the formation of emerging healthcare networks. No matter which one is connected In order to meet the needs of our customers, we must provide a solution that ensures a good connection."
Siemens also stated in the statement that the new product portfolio will provide open connectivity for a wide range of devices, enhance data integration, and ultimately simplify operations and data access while improving risk management. It will focus on developing interfaces and applications as well as data management.
Roman Rosenkranz, CEO of Conworx, said: "We will jointly develop leading information products to help customers manage the growing number of instant networks now and in the future." In addition, Roman Rosenkranz will also manage the new Siemens subsidiary (Siemens Healthineers Point of Care Informatics).
In May of this year, Siemens renamed its healthcare business to Siemens Healthineers. Along the way, it sold the hearing aid division to private investors, sold the hospital information system to Cerner, and sold the microbiology business to Danaher. When Siemens plans to split, its goal is to focus on big data analytics, molecular diagnostics, and instant diagnostics and mobile healthcare.
