Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Wales, recently opened a “Biomedical 3D Technician†position designed for hospitals and 3D printed surgical models, implants and guides. The move created a new position in the UK.
The position of Morriston Hospital is Heather Goodrum, a graduate of the Theatre Design Department of Nottingham Trent University and a Master of Arts in Facial Forensics. She is proficient in digital 3D design. Now, Goodrum uses its many 3D skills for medical 3D printing, not theater design. But to get such a unique position, we must know that she is the first person in the UK to work as a biomedical 3D technician. Goodrum should be proud of her heart.
