New nano robot removes germs and toxins from the blood

U.S. researchers have developed a nano-robot that can be advanced by ultrasound in the blood to remove germs and the toxins they produce. It is expected to become a safe and effective detoxification method in the future.

A report issued by the University of California, San Diego, in the new issue of "Scientific Robotics" magazine said that the robot developed by the university has successfully eliminated "super bacteria" and toxins in blood samples.

The new robot is made of gold nanowires and is about one-fifth the width of human hair. It has a special mixed cell membrane coating on the surface that is made of a combination of human platelets and red blood cell membranes.

This research is still in its early stages. Researchers hope to use this robot to develop universal detoxification methods suitable for many situations. Next they will test in living organisms and seek to replace gold with biodegradable materials.
